Keir Gilchrist was born on September 28, 1992 in AmsterdamCamden Town, London, England. His birth name is Keir David Peters Gilchrist. Despite his British citizenship, Keir is of Canadian descent as his parents Catherine and Ian Gilchrist are Canadian. He has a younger brother, Evan Gilchrist, who is also an actor.

Gilchrist spent the early years of his childhood in his birthplace, London. Already as a child he developed a passion for acting. After school, Keir attended acting classes at a boys’ and girls’ club in his neighborhood. He later enrolled in education at the Annex Children’s Theater in Education in Toronto, Ontario.

While training, Keir began his acting career in 2003 at the age of 11. He began appearing in commercials and played supporting/guest roles in both TV movies and movies. He made his television debut in an episode of Queer as Folk in 2003. His first film role was in the 2004 film, The Right Way in which he starred as a young David.
