Keir Gilchrist was born on September 28, 1992 in AmsterdamCamden Town, London, England. His birth name is Keir David Peters Gilchrist. Despite his British citizenship, Keir is of Canadian descent as his parents Catherine and Ian Gilchrist are Canadian. He has a younger brother, Evan Gilchrist, who is also an actor.

Gilchrist spent the early years of his childhood in his birthplace, London. Already as a child he developed a passion for acting. After school, Keir attended acting classes at a boys’ and girls’ club in his neighborhood. He later enrolled in education at the Annex Children’s Theater in Education in Toronto, Ontario.

While training, Keir began his acting career in 2003 at the age of 11. He began appearing in commercials and played supporting/guest roles in both TV movies and movies. He made his television debut in an episode of Queer as Folk in 2003. His first film role was in the 2004 film, The Right Way in which he starred as a young David. Before his breakthrough, Keir appeared in numerous other films and television series.

Over the next two years (2009), Gilchrist landed his breakthrough role in United States of Tara. He portrayed the young version of lead character Marshall Gregson on the Showtime comedy series until 2011. 2007 was quite a busy year for Gilchrist as he appeared in five works with one film. Dead Silence and four television series Family Guy , The Altar Boy Gang (unaired pilot), Life With Derek and The Winner in which he played his first major television role. 2008 was a bit idle for Kier as he only appeared in one work – Peter Vattaneo’s comedy film, The Rocker .
